Upper Gulf Coast IPM: Heat Units and Rain
Howdy yall, The upper gulf coast cooled down a bit this week, and some locations received some rain from our spotty storms. Most of our cotton is between 2-6 nodes above white flower (NAWF), but we did see a cracked boll this week. Some of the irrigated cotton around is holding out, but most reached cutout this week. Howdy yall, This week has been hot and dry. Most of our cotton is between 2-8 nodes above white flower (NAWF). I have several fields at or past cutout, and others that will be in the next two weeks. Our irrigated cotton holding on and isn’t quite to cut out where I have looked, it’s wrapping up more slowly than the dryland. Crop Tours and Cutout
Howdy, We have both the Wharton County Turn Row Meeting and the Matagorda County Crop Tour going on this Thursday. Wharton county’s meeting starts at 9:00 at the soybean variety trial, and the Matagorda county meeting will be at 2:30 at the El Maton National Hall. We look forward to seeing you there!
Bollworms, Plant Bugs, and Stink Bugs
Howdy, Next Monday is the Jackson County Ag Tour. The tour will start at the sorghum demonstration at 4:00 pm. Please contact the Jackson County Extension office with any questions on that program. This week has been hot and dry, we could use a little rain. The cotton is blooming and looking pretty good, but dry, everything I looked at this week was between 6-9 Nodes Above White Flower.
