We’re offering a two-part program on June 15th.  A field day with hay equipment demonstrations and feral hog control demonstrations will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2022.  1 CEU in IPM will be offered to TDA Pesticide License Holders. The irrigated hay field where the field day will be held is located on Hwy 60 N, about 4 miles north of Hungerford, Texas.  GPS coordinates for the hay field listed on the flyer posted at http://wharton.agrilife.org/events  Signs will be posted on the day of the event to mark where to turn off of Hwy 60 to enter the hay field.

The second part of the June 15th program is the Hay Seminar to begin at 6:00 p.m. at Hungerford Hall, 235 Cypress St., Hungerford, Texas 77435.  Attendees can begin meeting with vendors and program sponsors at 6:00 p.m.  A Meal will be served at 6:30 p.m..  At 7 p.m. Mr. Allen Homann, County Extension Agent for Madison County, TX will present on Hay Economics.  As with all commodities, input costs are up.  Mr. Homann will address markets, managing input costs, and hay pricing in this current economic environment.  Next on the agenda is Rachel Walker, Range and Pasture Specialist with Corteva™.  Mrs. Walker will introduce hay growers to a Return on Investment (ROI) Calculator.  To wrap up the evening, Corrie Bowen and Kate Crumley, County Extension Agents for Wharton County will speak on Fall Armyworm and Bergmudagrass Stem Maggot Control.  1 CEU in IPM will be offered to TDA Pesticide License Holders attending the evening program at Hungerford Hall.  Please RSVP by June 13, 2022 by contacting the Wharton County Extension Office at 979-532-3310.  Due to an increase in food cost, it is important that you let us know that you’ll be attending the June 15th Field Day or Seminar.
