Virtual Upper Gulf Coast Feed Grain and Cotton Production Conference – January 26, 2021

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension in Wharton, Matagorda, Jackson, and Colorado Counties are happy to announce the Upper Gulf Coast Feed Grain and Cotton Conference for Tuesday, January 26, 2021. Last year we brought in a record 190 farmers to this annual row crop conference. We’ve all been “hopeful” that we could pull-off this conference in 2021 in it’s traditional, in-person setting. However, due to current agency guidelines regarding programming during COVID-19, we have made the decision to provide this conference in a virtual format. This year’s conference will be held online, via Zoom. Registration began today, and will last through January 25, 2021. The Feed Grain and Cotton conference will address the following topics: Bollworm Update – David Kerns, Texas IPM Coordinator; Soybean Production on the Gulf Coast – Dr. Ron Schnell, Extension Cropping Systems Specialist; Weed Management in Grain Crops – Dr. Josh McGinty, Assistant Professor and Extension Agronomist; 2021 Texas Auxin Herbicide Training Dicamba and Enlist Technologies – Dr. Dr. Josh McGinty; Insect Management in Soybeans – Stephen Biles, County Extension Agent—IPM; Grain Market Update – Mark Welch, Extension Grain Marketing Specialist; Nematode Resistant Cotton Traits and Chemical Control of Nematodes in Cotton – Jenny Dudak, graduate student Texas A&M University; and RACE Trial Update/Current Cotton Research – Ben McKnight, Extension Cotton Specialist.
The annual Auxin training will be a one-hour training for 2021. The Auxin training that is provided as part of the Feed Grain and Cotton Conference will fulfill the annual auxin training requirements for Dicamba and 2,4-D Choline products and will include 1 hour of Laws and Regulations CEUs.
